Just wondering... Who here has a fairy garden?

I have this weird little strip of dirt alongside the cellar door on the back patio. Too narrow to plant much. So every year, my daughters (ages 4, 8, 11) and I create fairy gardens. They enjoy leaving little treats for our sprite-ly friends, and are constantly moving misc. stuff around. My neighbor just loves leaving little fairy trinkets for the girls to discover. It really is fun.

That shoe you see in the shell garden is "the starlight slide" made by my neighbor. She found it in a parking lot in Vegas and brought it home and fashioned a twig ladder. If only it could talk, I'm sure it comes with a good story attached....

Show me your fairy gardens!

PS - Don't look at the embarrassing state of my cellar door -- it will be getting fresh paint over the holiday weekend. Yikes...

Here are our gardens this year:

Those are so imaginative!
I go to a Fairy Festival each year at a local herb shop, They teach how to make fairy gardens and sell the tiny accessories, have a tea and fairy cakes.

In Michigan fairy doors began mysteriously appearing all over Ann Arbor;

My sister and her daughter made a fairy garden and house kind of like the one in "Fairy Tale; A True story".

I need to make one, now! Your pics are so inspiring.

I love them!

When I was little, I was told that moss was where the fairies danced at night. I still avoid stepping on moss! :happy_flower

So cute! The school I used to work at had a beautiful yard for the kids to play in, complete with a vegetable garden and pet bunny rabbit. Most of the girls created fairy gardens all over the place. I should have taken pictures, but I didn't. The best was when they made fairy sailboats out of dried banana tree leaves and fairy potions with herbs from the garden. :D And the very very best part was that sometimes the boys participated, too. They kept insisting that "fairies are totally cool, ok?"

Here's one from last year. The little houses are painted on rocks. Again, a gift from my wonderful neighbor. The girls call her our Fairy Godmother. She is pretty amazing.

I started making Fairy houses when I was about 4 years old. Using old bits of things I found in the yard.

I made this little house at the base of a tree in my side yard.

A few years ago I made these little fairy houses as gifts for my family.

some of the houses I put on wreaths.

Each house was very different. I used things I found in the forest while on vacation in Greer Arizona.

I wrote a poem to go with the Fairy Houses.

The Fairylands

I made a journey all alone
Far away from my desert home

In the forest where
the tall trees stand
There I found the Fairylands

I gathered moss, flowers and seeds
I even fell down and skinned my knees

The beauty here I wanted to share
with the ones I love
In the real world back there

The little cottages are made
with my own two hands
In hopes that you too can see
the Fairylands.

The fairies were back this week and have added a church to the perennial garden next to the new veggie garden fence...

How absolutely adorable!! I need to make one next to my door. What creativity. A nice way to make something as magical as a garden even more magical to children. :thumbsup
