When we bought our property nine years ago, the first thing I wanted to do was turn the circle of pine trees in the corner of our yard into a fairy garden. The children play in there often.
There are three fun stepping stones in the entrance (shaped like faces) and toadstools (made of large old metal bowls) to make it inviting for humans.
We decorate it with bird houses (which are just the right size for some fairies) and fairy houses that the kids build each year from natural materials. Any time we find a fairy or elf statue, it goes in the fairy garden, too. The children sometimes hang flowers and other decorations from the branches to make it more inviting for fairies.
It really is a magical little place.
