I thought mine would end up in the nightstand drawer, and most days I only get 3 lights lit.
But on the days when I get that 4th one lit and the 5th one is blinking it just makes me want to look for reasons to go a little bit farther. Since I can't tell if I'm 10 steps or 1000 steps away, I keep thinking "just another trip to the barn and back..." LOL

Also, on days when I have to make a dozen trips across the yard for kinked hoses, forgotten gloves, etc - I used to get mad, now I just say "Oh well, more steps on the fitbit."
LOL

Daughter tells of going to a concert recently. Two of the ladies in front of her seemed unduly fidigety. That is until she noticed both of them were bouncing their 'fitbits' on their legs. Whatever for? Like the fitbit cares if you're really walking or cheating? Seems to defeat the purpose, IMHO.

They were probably in a contest.
When you go on the website, you can join a group that compiles everyone's daily uploads from the trackers and ranks who's done the most steps. People make up groups and challenge each other. Some companies even give out the trackers and award very large prizes to the employee who logs the most steps over a certain time.

... still was cheating though...

Concert, I can understand knee bouncing ...

Church? Yeah, I remember being in a constant fidget, at times ...

Cheating on health? What nonsense! Although, it does remind me of this grandmother in about my most recently read novel. It seemed partly that she was on this months long, cross-country walk to get away from her dysfunctional children and grandchildren.

I suppose that "taking a walk" could be done for several reasons, including competitive ... Inspirational or an invitation to cut corners. I want to draw an analogy to a tail wagging the dog but it's more akin to Bowser twitching his feet, asleep on the porch.

Wow cane I didn't know about contest. I think it is really cool to see how different things affect heart beat. I also love how it converts steps to calories burned. My friend picked one up on amazon for under $50

My coworker has one. She has sleep, wake, steps, heart rate, even says who is calling or other info from her phone so she doesn't need to dig it out of her purse.

It's slick but she gets a bit obsessive about the info and can start stressing out when her numbers are slacking or not enough sleep.

Im a "I'll just take the stairs" kind of person anyway. I'd be afraid to count my steps honestly. I'd want to sit down more frequently
