I have to say this is my favorite series of all time. Right now I'm watching series 7 on tv, I have all earlier seasons on dvd and will be buying this latest series as soon as it comes available. Outstanding cast, they all play off each other so well I can't really pick a favorite, and Martin Clunes what can I say he's absolutely brilliant. How that man can stay in character is unbelievable, the facial expressions alone must be very tiring.
I can actually relate to some of the characters, nuf said :). I hope they keep coming back for many more seasons. This is one show I can watch over and over again for a good laugh. Shows come and go but this is a real winner in my book.

I totally agree Annette! It's my very favorite and I can watch the reruns endlessly. Good clean fun, and that is a tough one to find anymore.
Now I'm wondering which characters you relate to...haha.

I forgot to say I watch it almost as much for the gorgeous setting as I do for the storyline.

I watch!

Great show ... but, I really enjoy the British comedies! Yes. The scenery at Portwenn makes me want to pack my bags! But, I would never be able to handle their hills.

Can't get into the British dramas, however. Or, not much - the simpler ones have been okay.

You would be fine, @so lucky !

It's Martin's hometown.

That might be the only thing you need to know, not to be put off by how the locals behave towards him. He often treats them with the same love and respect. But ... look beyond all that ;).

@so lucky although there's an ongoing storyline each episode is about a new situation, if I can call it that. I can't think of another show that has had me laughing as much as this one does. I think everyone who has watched this show can related to at least one or more of these episodes.

@thistlebloom @digitS' besides the doc do you have favorite characters? I don't think it would be the same without PC Penhale the local constable or Aunt Ruth with her dead pan look and dry wit. Just thinking about these two brings a smile to my face. Oh heck they are all good.

The episode with the Doc going out and meeting Stewart the ranger and
Antony was hilarious. I haven't seen that character for awhile though. Aunt Joan was a favorite, and Ruth is great with the repartee. I like them all though, as you said.
It's on in 44 minutes, so I've cleared my schedule ;) so I can watch without interruption. :ya
