hoodat, that would make me nervous. once I was walking in the woods. suddenly I saw two baby coyotes playing a few yards from me. I stopped & looked around - there she was & I was between her and her kids. she stared at me & I just slowly backed out. getting between a mama and her babies is never a good idea.

So true, Stubborn!

Hoodat, those coyotes are pretty interesting. We used to have one that followed my daughter up to the bus stop every morning, sat and watched her until the bus came, then wandered off once the bus got there. it never got very close to her and was definitely not aggressive, just curious.

The other day we were walking out to our garden, which is situated right behind our Splash pool, when DH noticed an owl sitting on the side of the pool. He was only about 8 feet away. The little fellow flew to the forest of trees about 10 feet away and we proceeded into our garden to do some tending. After a few minutes, the owl flew out from the trees and perched on the garden fence not 4 feet from where I was working. It was a young screech owl and absolutely adorable. He watched us for quite a while, then flew back into the trees.

Then this afternoon we were making homemade raviolis and looked out the sliding glass door to see a young hawk perched on the roof and peeking in to see what we were up to. He was beautiful! He was a little more skittish than the owl and only stayed for about 45 seconds or so.

What a treat to get to see such amazing creatures right in our own backyard!

We live about 5 minutes from town. I like it out here a lot. MontyJ and I have had a garden for about 16 years. I will admit I never helped him with the weeding much.... but love getting the harvest. We have a lot of deer, turkey, rabbits and coons around. The things I like about where we live is

it's a dead end road, so we pretty much know who's coming and going
not too many nosy neighbors, unless MontyJ is building something.... LOL
bon fires during the summer.... smores :D

Well you all get the idea. Once in a while I get bored ( in the winter time) and that's when I break out the crochet hooks. :D
