I had too many leaves to mulch up with a lawn mower also, so had to apply them as is. I'm not too worried about the potential problems with them being whole. I've got 6 in. of wood chip underneath of them as well, so will be able to see how both together on the garden will do.

My garden is doing pretty good with using the leaves as my mulch. It did look very untidy, but the leaves did not blow around all that much. It also did a pretty good job with keeping the grass down. I do have to weed, since I had to cut through the cardboard to plant. Overall, I think the leaves were a big success. I also never saw any slugs.

I've been able to get a couple loads of wood chips delivered over the last couple of weeks. Surprisingly, looks like at least half is leaves with the remainder being chips and small limbs/twigs. I have some of this spread out on my expanded garden site and putting some in my orchard. I just hope the loads keep coming. :)
