@Carol Dee , there are some websites!

I wonder if those external braces are there because of vibrations. Windmills must vibrate and it might take some time to figure out where they might be in danger of damage.

We had waterwheels here and I look at the flourmill in Spokane and wish it was still able to show us how it worked. Then there were the horsepowered mills. I bet that they were common but simple and quickly lost.

Wheat ... do you suppose that they had something more than flails before the thresher. And, if Jen learned anything about Cyrus McCormick in elementary school :).

So on my way to work I see this windmill without blades on the edge of a small forrest. Today I saw it's for sale!
The mill itself is small, so there's an extra building for more livingspace. If I had the money i'd love to live there!
