Hoosier Daddy? :gig

Had fresh squash tonight sauted with orange and yellow bell peppers, onion, fresh basil and cherry tomatoes. Mixed it with Italian sausage. Mmmmmm.......... Sliced Cherokee Purple tomatoes and sliced purple bell peppers. Angel food cake topped with strawberries and sweet tea.

Seedcorn :hugs

You know they teach all these reasons over the uncivil war........the truth is that the people from the south were teasing us with their fresh vegetables.........so beware.......

It's bad enough that God gives you a head start but he calls our summer over faster as well...........

but at least we don't have to battle as many insects or as long.......there has to be some use for cold weather.

Yum-o dewdrops, I LOVE fried green tomatoes.

So far we have only enjoys early season crops, spinach, asparagus, lettuce some turnips are ready. Broccoli bolted when it got hot. There are a few zucchinni almost ready :) Tomatoes are in bloom. We are anxiously waiting.
I'm patiently waiting for our garden to start producing !!! It's growing like wild, but nothing has been picked yet except MotyJ's snow peas. :( Carol Dee I'm with ya on the fried green tomatoes... my gpap got me started on them years ago.

I just keep laughing when I see this thread title. I can't even *see* most of the garden, it's over-run with grass and weeds.

Thankfully I instituted a No Tomatoes Without Cages rule this year, (after the giant mess I had last year staking them and not keeping up with tying them up) so I can at least go out and get some tomatoes. The hours spent wrestling with the concrete reinforcing wire are paying off!

There are peppers out there... somewhere. I think they can be rescued if I can ever finish all the other stuff I need to do and get out there with the weed-eater.

I think I will get sweet potatoes and possibly some Yukon gold potatoes -- they appear to be dying back, though I never saw them bloom.

If you can wade out in the weeds and pick something to eat, then your garden is a success. I have had gardens before where I ran a lawnmower down the rows so I could find what I planted. The lady I buy peas and okra from has her garden tilled up, she plants, then she shares garden space with the grass and weeds. She sells okra and peas and does well $$$ every summer. Weeds and grass?? :smack Who cares as long as you can find veggies !!
