Will you just be nice to your future self, Thistle'!
"People who procrastinate ... see it as giving in to feel good. ... I can simplify that and say that psychologists recognize we all have a six-year-old running the ship. And the six-year-old is saying, 'I don't want to! I don't feel like it!'"
One person very close to me procrastinates on making big life decisions. I think he has been judged in the past on anything he did, so he has learned, unfortunately, to avoid criticism by doing nothing. This has caused irreparable harm to some family relationships. He does understand, now, that failure to make a decision is a decision in itself.
Dad always said, "Do something even if it's wrong." He was talking about the task at hand. I'm sure ...
We are all a balance and a blend of motives, emotions, accomplishments, etc. Mostly, I'm entangled in the et cetera.
I spent hours under the sink today. A dentist appointment was right in the middle of things . The corrosion in the pipes and valves passed into the faucet and that had to be replaced also.
I'd procrastinated right through the growing season with this plumbing job. Job?! Never, ever would I offer someone with my capabilities an hourly wage!
The slow flow was why I thought to try opening and closing those valves months ago. No go. You just gotta keep the olde mechanism moving or rust and corruption sets in.
Well, no wonder you're late! Why this clock is EXACTLY two days slow! @buckabucka : Two days slow?
digitS': Of course you're late! MY GOODNESS! We'll have to look into this.
I might be a good Mad Hatter. He makes off with the rabbit's pocket watch first to dip it in his tea then to smash the watch in his attempt to repair it. Madness!
Steve
Edit: the Mad Hatter is always at tea, because for him, time stands still.
