Indoors for the Winter

We have recently learned that houses are like cats : we don't own houses, houses own us. And, it is best not to kick doors. Do you have other householder tips?


Do you buy counter wipes from this outfit? Work your way to the end of the roll inside and there is nearly a cup of cleaning fluid at the bottom of the container. Find a spray bottle in the cleaning supply aisle and there you go.

 

[Branching Out]

I like foaming pump hand soap however I find it to be very over-priced, so one of my tricks is to refill foaming pump hand soap dispensers using inexpensive dish detergent. It is cheap, readily available, and it means that the colour of my liquid hand soap often coordinates with that of my dish soap. I especially like using aqua blue or watermelon pink varieties, because they're cheery colours. All you do is fill the container about 1/3 full with water, add the dish soap, and then give it a stir with the handle of a spoon (resist the urge to put the lid on and shake it, or it becomes way too foamy). I use an approximate ratio of one part liquid detergent to 3 parts water. If it's not bubbly enough in the end you just add a bit more dish soap.
