We didn't have the below-zero weather last week, surprising the meteorologists (& me). They had said that it would have been the first time since March 2019 for the thermometer to drop below 0°f (-18° C).
The wind chill was subzero several times and at quite a long stretch where there was much exposure (no close mountains to the north). That, of course, makes life difficult for living creatures.
It has been quite cloudy and that accounts for the warmer-than-expected but now, we will have more snow. It doesn't look like there is any chance of avoiding it . It will add to the local snow cover that has been on everything horizontal since December 16. There is way over 6' of snow on the pass through the Cascades and i90 was closed for quite some time last week; here they go again!
