@Phaedra Geiermann ,

I have never had Scotch Kale die when they have been left in the garden to overwinter. That was true when I was in another location with more snow, which must have insulated them.

It has also been true here at home which is, admittedly, more protected because of buildings and fences. There was nothing else, mulch or covering

Steve
Yes, those in the photos are all alone, with no covering. That's why I am doing research for building another hoop tunnel now. After removing the warmth-loving crops, those winter vegetables can move in.

The weather might be, unfortunately, more unfriendly in the coming future, sigh.

Still waiting my turn, im hoping the plow guy will get here today or maybe tomorrow. For almost 30 years ive done my own with a wheeler mounted plow; not only is this out of my “doable” category but at 72 i’m thinking id rather be in a plow truck rather than on a wheeler. I’ll fix that once the initial dilemma is past; we do have snow forecasted for the next couple days. It was over my knees walking down to do rabbit chores.
There’s one picture of the Borough plow truck doing the culdisac that shows a lot.

Well, i braved the elements long enough to do rabbit chores and some porch shoveling. I’m still waiting for my plow guy to come help me out; but, there’s lots of folks with way more important reasons than us who need to get out; so we wait. That’s not all bad, i spent a lot of the day in the shop working on a little canoe project!

The roof is fine for now, until i have 4 ft up there it’s all good!

I’m loving all the snow pictures. It’s warm and rainy here. We got like 4 inches this past week and are expecting another 2-4 tomorrow. The bridge was underwater yesterday afternoon. But was clear this morning. It will probably be underwater again tomorrow. I’d really like some snow instead at this point.

Severe weather possibly headed your way... be alert, and stay safe.

Thank. I’m alright for now. The severe stuff is supposed to stay a good bit south of us though we do have the ongoing flood risk. If this keeps up I may not be able to make into work in the morning.
