it was snowing earlier today, shovelled after it had rained a while and then stopped enough for me to go outside. very nice out there. no sunshine this time but warm and good to move some wet heavy snow, but not too much that it was a drag. i did not bother shovelling the end of the driveway near the road where the snowplow piles things up. we're not going anywhere and there's not enough to worry about. it will be a mess no matter what we do so let it drain off as it melts. maybe tomorrow i do something else... we'll see... :)

No sun here, but daytime temps in the low 30's now. Enough sun got through to penetrate the ice & melt it where it touches the concrete, so I was able to break loose & shovel all remaining ice in my driveway Did the same for some of the sidewalks at church, so people won't end up on their backs on the way in... should be able to finish the job tomorrow if no one beats me to it.

Very foggy here.

A quarter mile visibility, at one airport, 1/16th of a mile at another...

We have been swinging from one condition to another during this month of January. Right now, our mountain snow is melting at 4700 feet! At least, snow cover at higher elevations is mostly above that 50% of normal of a couple of weeks ago. Precipitation has been close to normal, it is just that a little too much has been rain, even in the mountains. Cascade Snotel monitors look better than here.

Started the day with some fog. Now everything is wet. The thaw has begun. So many puddles and potholes. The last three nights we have had rain/snow mix or freezing rain, so a.m. commutes got slippery. Day time temps in the upper 30's this week will really help get rid of this last big snow.

We have an odd weather pattern ahead with lots of rain and temperatures hovering around 10C(50F)-- both day and night. That is really weird; nights are typically much, much colder than that. Then toward the end of next week we are below freezing at night time again.
