We were hanging around 0 degrees for a couple days. The basement wood burner is ducted into the HVAC, so I stayed home & stoked the wood burner all day. That ash wood I dragged in all Summer pays for itself on the coldest days, it takes a lot of stress off the gas furnace. Nice to have a backup too, if the heater quits during a below-zero Friday night (been there twice).

taking out the trash this morning not too cold, but damp. just brought the recycle bins back in and it was warm enough i didn't need a coat or hat. 2 days ago it was 11F. up and down like a yoyo. MI weather, but more normal for Nov and not Dec.

we'll be back to colder soon enough.

i'll need to get the first propane refill in the next few weeks. as usual it seems to come around Christmas/New Year. i hate to call early before we really need it refilled, but i think i'll call this week instead of next.

Our rainy pattern just keeps going and going with another 7cm(almost 3") expected today; at least it's mild out, with temperatures well above freezing even at night time. Tomorrow we may have a dry day, which would be lovely so I could get outside for a bit. Lots of empty pots and plant trays blew around the yard during a recent wind storm, and I really should try to round them up and put them away.

it is almost over the hump day! which means the winter solstice for those of us in the northern hemisphere. 4:21am Saturday and then Sunday is the first full day of winter and the days start getting longer. the strange fact though is that the earliest sunrise may be some days later (due the fact that the earth's orbit around the sun is eliptical and that the earth tilts).

it is snowing here so i will have to get out and shovel this morning. it will feel good to get some fresh air and exercise for a change.

Sorry, we got snow, but the sidewalks melted it by noon. We live in a snow drought region. Snow to the north of us, south of us, west of us and east of us and often we get "nuttin."
I ran all of the gasoline out of my snowblower Spring 2023. Didn't even have to use it last winter.

my back loves exercise. i mostly move snow by pushing it and not lifting.

-25C/-13F, but tomorrow -28C/-18F. Reef feel ratings in the -30's. Winter is truly here. 😬 Prediction from Farmer's Almanac says mega cold ahead.
That is miserable cold yikes dig out the snow suits. Stay warm and hydrated lots of hot drinks. I haven’t felt minus temps since living in Colorado years ago. Everything freezes in no time especially fingers and toes. The days the kids would make snow forts to say warm outside. I still have my old winter coat I bought at a recycle shop years ago and it was the warmest coat ever.
