There was .6 inches of snow "depth" at a nearby airport on 10 January. Sometimes, I wonder why they bother but the numbers provide some information on non-events as well as actual ;).

No precipitation has fallen since and we have continued with something like the current 13⁰f (-11⁰C) mornings and right near freezing but usually below, sunny afternoons. There is still snow/ice where I walked on it., snow in all protected areas of the yard, even snow on the north slopes of of roofs. We went for weeks without seeing the sun so, I'm not complaining about sunny days and starry skies at night :).

I can complain about how the air and hoar frost can deposit dust on car windshields and the extremely low angle of the sun at any daylight hour can make it difficult to see when facing south. I nearly pulled in front of a lady pushing a shopping cart a couple of days ago. She was coming out of the shade of the building and had that determined look on her face like "I've got the right-of-way and not waiting for a car."

Scared the bejeebers outta me! I had a spray bottle of window cleaner in the car and a few paper towels. I cleaned the windshield inside and out while sitting in the parking lot before leaving.

Steve, expecting that 100% of snow Thursday night and continuing through Saturday predicted

Color me surprised!

The Weather Service predicted 29° (-2°C) for this morning with snow, perhaps, changing to rain in the afternoon. It made sense even tho the warmest morning in weeks. Instead, it was above freezing by 2AM and I woke up to rain, with funny little ice sparkles on the backsteps 😯 .

There is steady rain now. The neighbor's neglected lawn is quite flat and a huge puddle. First time I ever noticed that happening. The ground had plenty of time to freeze and our gravelly soil is not ready to absorb the rain. What little snow that has been our Winter 2024/25 "snow pack" and been here for weeks is quickly disappearing.

Well, the WS has lowered its prediction of 35+ mph afternoon wind gusts to below 25mph. I appreciate that ;). I looked at the mountain passes. It's only snowing on the way over to Montana with the lower elevations receiving some of this rain. On the route to Seattle, Snoqualmie is a much lower pass but the Cascades are catching much of the snow and it's coming down "hard," according to the highway department. We will see if that interstate will be open for long.
