Ice storm. Supposed to be this morning, now freezing rain/rain starting at 2PM, and freezing rain from 6-8PM.
Then, late Thursday/Friday morning more ice storm stuff. :somad
Would that the emoji would melt the ice and scare away the weather.
We are having a "northerly" right now ---- burrr! Temps in the 20s at night and daytime temps of low 30s.

Temperatures warmed into the 20's Fahrenheit (-5 Celsius ±) but that came with about 3 hours of "light snow" around midnight.

There looks like about 7" on the ground now so nothing to be too upset about. Mountain passes don't appear to be catching much more of the snow than down at this elevation, this time – i hasten to add. It's light lifting with the snow shovel if we are only to have about 2 inches each day. I will be venturing out to do that once finished with my after-breakfast, herbal tea.

Trying store bought tea bags to contain the mixture in my little 4 cup kettle. The wire basket does a poor job of containing the dry herbs and I customarily add a coffee filter. One bag is large enough and, on first try, does a quick filtering. Tasty Tea 😋 .

Frosty this AM. H39F L26F . Feeling the freeze.
Praying for those caught in the ice storms expected today. I hope no power outages. Best to just sit tight and wait this ice storm out.

I may or may not pick up my DH from the hospital today depending on the road conditions . I had to call the abuulance to take him into the hospital. He’s scheduled to come home today.

However black ice is a huge culprit driving down the mountain curvy roads and it’s tricky with only 2 narrow lanes , ditch on one side and a steep drop on the other side of the road and lots of black ice this time of year. I was in a car accident going down the hill a few years ago because of road conditions were icy slick and we very seldom get the road sanded. Very reluctant to try the road since then & hesitant to drive on icy roads.

It’s a wait and see how road conditions look this afternoon , expecting more snow and ice by noon.

(p) :) as in steep.

i was thinking this morning i might have had a chance to get some tea out because i had to run errands in town and one of those errands meant i might have had some time between being dropped off in town and the library opening. there's a local small chain branch that has a tiny diner right in town just a few doors down from the library. yet in the end it didn't work out that way and there was no need at all to be dropped off in town. the errand was done and i was back to town and could sit in the car and wait a few minutes until the library opened. no cold wait outside and no tea.

it's cold here and some snow at times and then it gets warm enough to melt things off. i'm not bothering to shovel today right this instant, but maybe later i'll go out and scrape some small amount of snow off to help it go away before we get colder again tonight and it turns to ice or something.

Seriously long stretch of bitter cold here. If it were December or January it would not be noteworthy, however for February this is very odd for our area. I think we may have broke records for the overnight low of -9C(16F). We have lots of sunshine in the forecast at least; it's so nice to get out for a walk to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature when there's snow on the ground. My fava, sweet peas, some lettuce seedlings, and even trays of ranunculas are coming in at night for warmth and then going outside for a few hours each day for bright light and fresh air. Good chance I will have to keep moving these plants in and out for at least another week. Oh well. Such is the life of a winter gardener. 🥶

We are really having a chilly winter here too. 3 really bad temp plunges so far, though this week the low was -30C/-22F so not near as bad as it was in the last one. I was complaining a bit earlier this week when we were out walking the dog as it was -17C/ 1F , about how cold my legs were against the winds, no longjohns so it really felt like my skin froze, and DD sternly scolded me about how great it was considering. Haha, I guess that's confirmation that it has been quite a cold winter this year.
