i think our temperatures are going to be pretty good for the next few days before they go lower again. that is fine with me.

a lot of the predicted snow for today went north of us so that means i may get a break on how much snow falls tonight and tomorrow, but won't know about that until i see it when i have to go out and shovel.

it's the wind that will make things interesting tomorrow and i think they've taken a few mph off that prediction too.

It snows again, well, just mid Feb. However, the forecast shows 10C from coming Thursday, that's early.
Anyway, as schedule, my sowing will start tomorrow - the trays will stay indoor as the first batch seeds need no light to germinate. When it gets much warmer later this week, they can directly stay in the greenhouse after saying hello to the world.

cooling off tonight and then down to 0F and -2F for the Monday and Tuesday nights. not much snow now in the forecast so maybe i won't have to shovel too much tomorrow. this morning wasn't as bad as i expected either so it only took 45 minutes at a leisurely pace to get it done. looks like the sun might melt off what's left.

LINK – Here is a link to a map showing the average coldest day of the year across the US.

As you can see, the areas in the West are much earlier than those in Midwest and New England. Here, it is normally during the first few days past the Winter Solstice. It is usually very snowy right after that period.

I was out this morning shoveling about 4" of snow that fell on this, the 16th day of February. There is now a little over a foot of snow on the ground. It is not at all unusual to have snow in February and not especially unusual to have sub-zero temperatures. But, I can now say that, for the entire Winter season, temperatures and snow fall are somewhat normal –– on the low side for snow and the high side for temperatures. Two months of Winter have passed and I don't know what the next 4 weeks will bring but everything wintery has been very late.

We now have about 12 inches of snow on the ground and it continues and is predicted to continue for several days. That seems fairly normal and I'm now using my past experience figuring out where to store the snow, outta the way – piling it here and there.

We just passed our coldest days, on the 9th thru 13th of February. We have had 3 days with no snow since the 1st of the month. We had 3 weeks with no snow in January and began and ended that month with "officially a trace" of snow on the ground ... I wonder what the final 1/3rd of Winter will bring. Perhaps, we are transitioning back to normal.
