@Shades-of-Oregon , I understand weaning OFF of medications. Heck, I never even used to take aspirin or Advil for ANY pain, and I have a terrible gag reflex.
Here's the deal: My surgeon looked at x-rays of both knees back in September, noting that they were mirror images of each other and asked which knee I wanted to have the surgery on.
Since they want you to have help at home I opted to wait until the summer for the 2nd surgery, instead of commit my youngest DD to ANOTHER 2 months of extra work feeding horses. In the summer they are on pasture and even DH can fill grain bowls and kick them under the fence and make sure to keep the water tank full, ALL without assistance. He isn't physically able to handle winter care.
I STILL have a crooked left leg and often very painful left knee joint.
So...where is the argument to wean me off of medication for my left knee?
My right leg gives me only moderate muscle pain when I over exert, something that I can handle.
Don't misunderstand--I am Very Grateful for my October surgery.
I guess I will make an appointment with my NEW Geriatric dr--at this Clinic they move on very quickly, and DH went through a series of them, meeting each once before a replacement came along.
I don't want to muck up my July surgery.
I have been "allergic" to doctors for a LONG time.
They always send out surveys asking me about service. I will stop answering them. I don't think that they would listen to my suggestions, if they don't listen to my comments in emails.
I asked in my inner portal email if there was anything else I should do.
NOBODY said, we would like to see you in person before prescribing anything else, and it was THEIR idea that constant aspirin and Advil use was not good for me. They both Still work better than the tramadol, but sometimes the tramadol works the best for the left knee joint pain.
I don't care that other people are playing games bc they want drugs.
I hope after recovering from the 2nd surgery to NOT be on any drugs.
This starts year 5 of my knee pain, only it's for only the left knee joint, which really is shot.
I need to spend the next 3 weeks exercising and getting ready for the physical therapy scheduled pre op for my knee, and which starts on April 1st.
Their comments also go into my record.
I will probably look for more over the counter remedies bc I don't have to ask anybody's permission to buy/use them.
