A snow pea. Well, that's okay. Stir-fries! No shell peas?

you can eat the whole pod, but it isn't a pencil shape, it's more flat with the pencil along one edge. i'm really not sure of the naming convention with peas... :)

Snap peas weren't around when I started gardening. Developed in Idaho and now, all over the world.

With 3 quite different fresh types, I am happy with peas. Unfortunately, DW doesn't have much of an interest in dry, split peas but, I suppose, they aren't really much like the fresh ;).

i like them about any way! those pods and fresh peas often don't make it out of the garden in any way other than my tummy...

we had some storms here this early evening. possible tornadoey but not right over us. as usual if it gets lightning i shut down the computer and do other things.

further north they're dealing with the results of an ice-storm.

morning comes too soon here, so off to Zzzz...

If there are bad storms I try to unplug my laptop, just in case. I bought This one bc a thunderstorm and lightning fried the last one.
Besides, my laptop battery goes for 4 hours...

if we get bad enough weather my internet connection will go down anyways, so as long as i can save what i'm working on and shutdown within a few moments i'm usually ok. my backup power supply and filter for the PC will last a few hours, but i still don't want to run it because most of what i'm doing these days is using it to find things on-line to help me with various projects.

The local Weather Service already has some March totals posted on this April Fools Day morning.

I was a little surprised that precipitation didn't quite reach normal but didn't fall much short with 19 days of measurable precipitation. Nearly all that was rain since the month was warmer than usual. Nineteen days/31 — seemed like more but, no, there was never much coming down at once, just a lot of damp dreariness. And, wind!

No averaging of wind nor monthly wind totals — I am always thinking that Spring reminds us locals that we live in the Pacific Northwest. However, we have just arrived in Spring! Strange  warm Winter, very little snow with a somewhat frigid February, over a month late with the coldest days.

The concern here in the Wild West borderland of the PNW is that we will be slammed with dryness and heat, again. Blessed with a substantial mountain snowpack, of course, i will be looking forward to sunny weather. We may even have a few hours of that this afternoon when this drizzle and fog lifts.

The last 2 days have been nuts. Just one of those perfect storms of conditions that created a world covered in heavy duty ice. All weekend we had freezing rain and yesterday morning I woke up to a car cocooned in thick ice, I've never seen anything like it. The bottom 2 inches were snowy-ish, but the next 2 inches were solid ice. I was whacking at it with my scraper to try and break through to the windshield in vain, until my neighbour yelled over to run the car for 15 minutes first. That was the smart thing to do, and after about 20 minutes we freed the car. BUT.

I had a lot of highway driving errands to do yesterday. Most vehicles, despite being pried from their ice cocoon, had roofs still covered in several inches of ice. It wasn't until I got on the highway that I realized how problematic this was. After a short amount of driving, I saw ice sheets started to come loose from many vehicles. A truck passed me, and his (huge) sheet of ice flew up in the air, almost like a kite, broke and then flew towards my windshield. I slammed on the brakes in time and only got shatter platter. There were huge broken sheets of ice all over the highway! I bet there were more than a few people who got shattered windshields from a sheet of ice flying into them. My front yard garden, dog was skating around this morning. It was hard enough we could all walk on it and not fall through.
