I found this on the Internet -

Avocados
Depending on the variety, avocados can grow in zones 8–11, but the minimum temperatures in zone 8 can be as low as 10–20°F (-12–-7°C). This makes growing avocados outside risky, but the Mexican avocado is a better choice because it can tolerate temperatures as low as 19–20°F (-7°C). Mexican hybrids like 'Brogdon', 'Ettinger', 'Gainesville', 'Mexicola', and 'Winter Mexican' are also frost tolerant. Avocado trees need lots of sun and warmth, but they also need good drainage and shouldn't be planted in wet soil. You can plant them in a raised bed or mound the soil around them to help them survive a bad freeze.

Pineapples
The Ananas 'White Jade' pineapple can grow in zones 8–11 and is easy to care for. It can tolerate heat and drought, and grows best in a sunny or partly shady spot with well-drained soil that's acidic. You can grow it in a container or in a garden, and it doesn't need pruning, but you can feed it in the spring and fall. You can also grow pineapples from seeds, which you can find in store-bought pineapples. Rinse the seeds, wrap them in a wet paper towel, and put them in a plastic bag in a warm place (65–75°F) for about six months. The seeds should then sprout, and you can plant the baby plants in containers until they're big enough for the garden.
