I was so optimistic about my project...
... but I should have left well-enough alone, or at least not messed with all the shoots, and just tested on a couple :(
Almost all of them are dead. A few are kinda holding on, so I'm trying to do my best to keep them alive.
All the videos / articles talk about being REALLY mindful about the water used for these plants.
In the SF Bay Area we don't get a ton of rain this time of year, but we've been getting a few tiny showers.
So, I thought I'd have some fun... and went and put a bunch of bowls / pans to catch the...
I've been reading-up and watching more videos. I *think* I should be ok moving forward since 1) I've kept them mostly alive for 5 years, and 2) I'm going to be more diligent about care. :)
One thing I'm also trying to decide is around propagation and rooting compounds, etc.
I found these two...
From what I read, it was when the water-level was too high on the plant. Submersing the roots was fine, but not high up the stalk.
Ya, once these take-root, I may test-out using some soil.
Hi friends!
(I wasn't sure which thread (ya, on my own forum ) to put this thread... but learned lucky bamboo is a type of water lily, so I figured flowers was closest?)
I received a lucky-bamboo plant from a friend 5 years ago. Surprisingly, I've actually been able to keep it...
Thanks for the post!
I believe the ad-company we use for display ads has a refresh rate set to 30 seconds, and I just verified that with a few ads while I was typing. If you're seeing something different than 30 seconds, then we'll need to determine if that's just happening to you, or also...
Great point!
Often the question on BYC is how to delete draft "articles", but since we don't have that article system here, then it's not an issue.
... but for drafts in the thread: Yup, they can be deleted as you mentioned!
PHEW!
Thanks everyone for your patience as we worked to figure out this problem!
We had a handful of days with the site being pretty much unusable, but we wanted to be able to fix the bug in the database without causing any other issues (like loss of data).
We were getting to the point where...
Interesting discussion! We do have some flexibility in how quoted text looks, but how much... I'm not sure.
@flowerbug do you have an example of what you'd ideally like it to look like?
Correct, there isn't a way for us to make a quote "read only"
On that note...
The persimmons I got from my friend are PERFECT!
From what I understand, there are many fruits that if grown from seed, won't produce the same exact fruit as the parent (like in the video below).
I'd LOVE to plant seeds from this fruit and grow them... but don't want to...
That's just insane (and kinds sad).
Ironically just a couple hours ago I picked up a box (only about 1/4 the size of your boxes) of Fuyu from the woman that gave them to my mom a year ago.
We've added a new "reaction" called Informative:
Our hope is that this additional data-point will help our community "bubble-up" the most helpful and "informative" content and replies!

Ugh!
I'm in no way a garden expert. Sometimes I've just gotten lucky, but most of the times my garden has disappointed me. I see other gardens that have SUPER lush huge vibrant green plants with tremendous production
... and I'm stuck with plants (most vegetables) that barely grow or produce...
