    Pasting Problem

I have a problem sometimes when I try to copy/paste something onto this forum. I'm on another forum that uses the same version of ZenForo, so I think it has to be the forum and not my computer. These are the only places I have this problem. When I copy something, say a plant name or web URL, and...

    Flower ID

I FOUND IT!! I was searching though google images using different key words and came across one photo that was the same as mine. It's called ... ok, can't paste the name. Common name then, Mediterranean Bells. One of many names. Does anyone else have issues trying to copy/paste on this forum...

    Flower ID

I have widow's tears, I've always liked them. These don't really look close. The frittilaries look close, but I couldn't find any that matched. I'll have to dig through the day lily and find the leaves. They are long and thin and don't stay upright like the day lily. The flower stalk doesn't...

    Flower ID

A few years ago I bought some day lilies from someone at a flea market. Every year since another plant has grown with it, but I don't know what it is. The leaves look very similar to the day lily, only they are a bit thinner. I couldn't get a photo of the leaves because they are hidden in the...

    Wild furry friends ...

I don't mind the critters taking a nibble of my plants here or there. I've found if I feed the squirrels they will leave my gardens alone. We get deer, foxes, skunks, rabbits, opossums and all kinds of birds. I love watching them all, even the deer. I haven't seen any chipmunks, but I know they...

    mint as a grohnd cover!!?

Mint never bothered my pet rats. In fact some of them like it. I guess a strong concentrated oil may work, because of the strong smell. It's been a while since I have given them any mint in a few years, maybe I'll go pick some and see if they avoid it or eat it.

    Potatoes in the ground?? Seriously??

This year I'm growing potatoes in wire bins I made. Digging in the ground is too much for me, even though the ground is very soft. I have back pain, I just can't do it. I did grow some small fingerlings in a bucket and that worked out great, so bigger bins, bigger tators.

    Figs

Do you know if there is any way to make preserves without sugar, or limited sugar? I'm diabetic and while I do cheat sometimes I really need to watch how much sugar I eat.

    Figs

I grow all kinds of things for her, and my other animals too. Ziva (she's a pineapple green cheek conure) eats mostly a chopped diet, which is a mix of fresh and frozen fruits, veggies and grains. I make a large batch up and then freeze it, defrosting what she needs daily. So everything I grow...

    Figs

I've only ever had dried figs, and they are very good. I actually got the tree to have figs for my little bratty parrot. But she is going to have to share with me. The more I read about them the more I'm looking forward to trying them fresh.

    Corn Thread for 2014

I'm growing corn for the first time, strawberry popcorn. I don't know much about growing it, so this whole thing is a learning experience. If this does well I want to try one of the shorter varieties of sweet corn next year. I really like the looks of that blue jade corn, or maybe Anasazi. I...

    Figs

I picked up a fig tree today, the variety is Celeste. I've never grown figs before so this will be interesting. The tree is about four feet tall, and it has about seven branches coming from the base. Paid $30 for it, seemed like a good deal to me. I'm really excited to get some figs from it.

    Anybody using milorganite?

So then couldn't there be medications in it? Birth control, pain meds and those types of things. Some of them don't break down easily or quickly.

Been a little while, some pics to share.

Love that piggy set up, I have five. Four girls and one blind old boy. They love getting out into the grass, they really are great little mowers. I would love to get into rabbits one day, your SF rabbits are beautiful. Do you raise them for meat? Or just pets.

don't put up a stink, in the wrong forum but. . .. it bugs me!!!!

A few years ago we had the marmorated stink bugs really bad. They were everywhere, inside and out. Over then next few years I have seen less and less. I don't use poisons, I only kill them when I see them. This year we only had a few inside, maybe 3. They didn't seem to harm the garden. They are...

    Deer Repellents

I make a repellent that works great for me. We have tons of deer in this area and last year they started to eat all my day lilies, new cherry tree, hostas and many other flowers. We have so many deer you can see them walking down the street at night. I mixed up some tabasco sauce, an egg and a...

    Black eyed suzies! moved themselves!

My black eyed susans came from a wildflower seed mix, I've moved them around the yard and now they come back every year. I have a bunch in the back of the yard, near a bird feeder that the goldfinches love.

Can i plant pop corn near eating corn?

I've had pumpkin and zucchini cross and it never affects the actual pumpkin/zuke. What it does affect is the seeds and what is grown from them. I always get the normal zukes and pie pumpkins. Not sure why your watermelon wasn't good, maybe the seeds where crossed with something odd before you...
