You have way more patience than I do! My mom is an avid knitter and quite good at it in my opinion. I tried to knit but I couldn't sit that long. I like doing things that I can make up my own way of doing them- like cooking (NOT baking), gardening, raising chickens.....
It's a spring time miracle! I woke up this morning and there were 4 little Sweet Bananas popping there heads up through the soil. I can't believe it. Hopefully they keep on trucking, I need a minimum of 4 plants in my garden this year for all my canning needs.
Those are simply stunning. I have tried to dabble in flowers before but with no luck. This year I planted tons of different varieties of Zinnias and so far so good with those guys. My marigolds only have about 40% germination. I have always been more drawn to vegetable gardening....and seem to...
Oh, and here are some updated pictures of my starts. I have tomatoes and peppers in the large flats and then many different kinds of Zinnias in the half flats and then some struggling Marigolds and a pot with Lemon Grass in it.
I am starting to think the same thing thistle. Most are almost ready to be transplanted that did make it. I looked at my flats today and noticed that I did not get a single Sweet Banana pepper to germinate. Fail!
You will love the Speckled Roman tomatoes. My mother-in-law swears by them and they usually take up half of her tomato plant space in her garden. I have grown Amish Paste and Black Krim and they did alright in my garden but our summer was very short and very hot that year. I surprised they did...
Me too! I hang out in the storage room with all the grow lights and starts just to feel like spring. It's not the same but it will have to do for now.....20degrees and light flurries today for us here in MN.
Steve, your Rosemary looks stunning! I wish I had that in my kitchen. I love Rosemary anything. My favorite treat is fresh brewed tea chilled with Rosemary and crushed berries topped off with a little sparkling water. So refreshing.
I'm having weird issues with my starts this year. Bad germination on about 1/2 of my varieties, plants just fizzling out, and plants unable to shed their seed coat. I know I'm not under or over watering. I made my own seed starting mix this year which is equal parts perlite, vermiculite, and...
She was wrapped in a towel and then one of the tail ends of it were over her eyes. I put her on her back at first but she wanted to be on her side more. She sat pretty well, she only reared up once while I performed the surgery. I had someone put their hand on her wing so she wouldn't struggle.
I just changed her bandages and she is healing up nicely! The swelling in the foot that had the worst infection has gone down by about half. They both already have a decent scab on them. She's starting to get her spunk back, too!
I can handle a lot of things, like blood and guts, but you get a snake or spider near me and I totally panic. When I was 16 I got bit by a non poisonous spider in my hand and it got severely infected a few days later. When I went into the hospital they could not believe what happened to my hand...
I noticed one of my Buff Orpingtons was limping the other day so I picked her up and sure enough, she had bumblefoot... or should I say feet? I noticed about a week ago she was playing near the fire pit (little stinker!). She must have gotten something stuck in her feet and couldn't get it out...
