Good afternoon Michiganders/Michiganians!
Finally sunny again and it's 60 out side but predicting 19 tonight and tomorrow night and a couple other nights below freezing. Going to cover my small roses and the 3 lilacs with buds just to be safe.
My first pepper has sprouted! I'm only growing...
happy Saturday. Today is sure better than yesterday, I went to Alpena to try to see about a new battery for my phone, Walmart, where I bought my phone doesn't sell any, picked up some seeds and one of those seed starter trays, and on the way home, the car died, very slowly, over about an 8 mile...
It also helps to use VERY firm and/or very small cucumbers. Picklers can be too big if you don't pick them soon enough. If they're too big you have to cut them and cut pickles usually always get a little mushy. I also do mine with a water bath though, not a pressure canner. I use recipes from...
After my last post we also got a nice long downpour so I didn't have to water the snow peas. High was 62.7, 23 degrees warmer than normal and 22 degrees cooler than yesterday.
I saw the flashes last night, they were out my north facing window, didn't hear any thunder, at least nothing close. It looks like the dirt the guineas had a dust bath in is slightly damp but nothing more. It's sprinkling now. The front cooled things off though instead of 90 they're predicting...
I'm sure it will be fine. Just be sure to give it some water while it's this hot and not raining. Not even noon and it's almost 80.
They changed the Saturday forecast for around here instead of 50 50, however, they claim 3 nights in a row of 36. That's way too close to freezing for me, my rose...
My mom used a pressure cooker for like ever! I can't remember how many different things she cooked in it but I do remember pork chops browned with mustard then cooked in the cooker with a can of chicken and rice soup. It was pretty darned good. But she NEVER canned anything, she was certain home...
If you have a copy of the Ball Blue Book, I'm pretty sure it has a chicken broth section. If I can find mine I'll look it up. But you do have to use a pressure canner.
Yuppers, mine started last night, too. And today I saw my crocuses are in full flower!
Normal high for today is 39. Record high was 69, it's already 77! Everything is a month early, I have no idea and I think the meteorologists haven't any idea either, when this is going to end and if it does...
I don't see why it would hurt, they are pretty resilient. I've divided and moved them in full leaf, I would think near dormant would be better.
My crocuses are flowering! :woot
Good morning! :happy_flower
Not only are the pussy willows blooming but the poples and tag alders are going to seed, got those long catkin things hanging down. They weren't like that the day before,,, fast!
I planted 24 feet of snow peas. Today I am taking the day off from digging and...
I'VE GOT GERMINATION! I'VE GOT GERMINATION! :weee
I don't know what they are but I know most are tomatoes! I don't want to take the lid off till more of them germinate! I think keeping them upstairs in the dining room which is much warmer than the basement really helped. Once the majority have...
I planted snow peas yesterday and today. The poplar trees and tag alders are all gone to seed, a month early and the maple tree buds are swelling. Insane weather, I sure hope we don't get a hard freeze after this!
Yesterday I planted two 12 foot rows of snow peas. Dwarf white sugar and snowbird. The snow bird are seeds I found on top of the fridge from 2009 so they probably aren't viable but since I'm getting things out about 3-4 weeks early due to the incredibly warm weather I figure I've got time to...
