Pat- if you liked In Defense of Food, you should definitely try some of Michael Pollan's other books. I thought IDOF was his worst. My absolute fave is The Botany of Desire. Although some would consider The Omnivore's Dilemma to be his magnum opus.

It had occurred to me, your fellow allergy sufferer, to do the same thing. But theres nothing I hate worse than wet toilet paper-y stuff and I couldn't imagine being faced with that every time I turned my compost.

We had to buy some too, DH built two new raised beds and were a little short on compost.
I'm not sure how much it cost, we had it delivered and I didn't ask what the delivery charge was. Plus I'm so dog-tired from moving the stuff I can't think clearly.
