We just get a kill permit. They start you with 7 tags. Trouble is you gotta clean them, call in your kill, and deliver to the Mission within 24 hours.
Still, we have never filled all of our tags. Deer go missing out here a lot. So many farms, so many deer, lots of guns....
Sheet mulch. Cardboard and bark.
I use landscape fabric (Costco has commercial strength at a steal) in my groomed areas with bark.
But I have used tyvec paper too. It works really well, drains, and holds up forever!
Super cool info.
In My trees and shrubs class I came to not really like the Mulberry. Really messy. But maybe I should revisit this tree I wrote off 15 years ago...
You are just slightly ahead of us. I can see the buds and it should be in teh next few days. My trees are 4 years old. Should I let them fruit? I'm thinking at least a few...:drool
AlienChick-- Looks like you have a pond? Pretty big one too! How about some sheep pics?
Thistlebloom-- Never underestimate your them-park-ability! I think you are quite amusing...
NwMtGardener-- Which house is yours. Is the white roofed building a neighboring home or an out building...
Very Fun. you could really get creative with all the colored wires out there now! You can use teh heavy gauge for the frame and colored jewelry wire for effect. Not sure how those wires hold up.
Generally though anything kept in shadier areas keeps its color longer and actually shows better.
If scent is an issue for you then chose Asiatic lilies. They come in REALLY bright colors and have no scent. They bloom before their fragrant friends the Orientals.
Personally I like having both for a 2 month bloom. Costco usually sells them at a steal this time of year. I like the...
So I have done a bit of reading and many sites recommend Funginex. I have seen this. Copper and sulphur would be the organic treatments available./ I'll keep y'all posted.
it's not powdery mildew. This is Oregon, I can spot that a mile away. Need to break out old Textbook from horticulture. I've never had to do ANYTHING with my rhodies! This is weird!!!!!
I think so. You will get a bushier plant. Just make sure the pot size on the bottom will accommodate a larger plant.
:rainbow-sun Bigger plant needs more root space. :happy_flower

Laughing so hard. Where do they get these ideas?
"Wow, vampires are all the rage right now and so is Abraham Lincoln!"
Writer friend replies, "You know what we should do? Make Abraham Lincoln a vampire hunter!"
This is where I have to advocate against drug use. You really are...
Our Rhody (Rhododendron) recently has begun crisping the edges of the leaves and a white fungus has appeared around the flower buds. It has spread to another nearby bed fellow. Anyone know what fungicide to use. We needn't be organic in that part of the yard as we are far enough from the field.
I like to steam them until almost done. Drain and throw in a pan with a tsp buter and 2 tsp soy sauce. fry quickly and eat. It's great like that chilled on a picnic, although it's not too picknic-y right now. lol
