I dug out another mule load yesterday. I spread them out in the sun to dry so I can bag them up and put in the trash. Still plenty out there, but I’m making progress. I’ve got to butcher chickens today, then process tomorrow and Friday, so no digging thistles. I may have to go lop off bloom...
Yesterday I dug up some thistles. I hate those things! I’ve got lots of them. Last year I cut off the blooms and seed heads and threw them away.
I spray the big fat roots with a vinegar solution. Hopefully it works
1 gallon white vinegar
1 1/2 cups salt
2 tablespoons Dawn dishwashing liquid...
About 2-3 days. I had some back pieces in the mix and it’s like they melted away. When the leg bone pieces break easily, it’s done. I don’t know about making it into broth, it’s kinda overcooked. But you can try and report back here! LOL Dogs sure love it!
I got those 10 chickens processed and cut meat off the bones of a couple and made pan sausage. I cooked down the bones, wing tips, skin, and back pieces in the crockpot for a couple of days until the big leg bones crumbled. Tossed in some leftover rice and the dogs love it over their kibble...
Wednesday I slaughtered 10 chickens and hand picked them, they are packed on ice. I’ll get them processed today. Yesterday I went to a friend’s house and picked up his chicken plucker. I won’t be hand pickin’ no more chicken!

We had quite the burn party. Grass fire!
My friend Nancy and I beat the...

Daisy had a single ram lamb this morning. Daisy is half White Dorper and half Katahdin. Daughter of Granny and Cooper, she was bred to Little Ringo.
Lambing has concluded.
43 lambs, lost 3, 1 bottle baby, all ewes are ok .
Thanks. I knew he wasn’t going to make it, but at least he died warm, safe and loved.
Yesterday I worked on fenceline. I need the back field, but it’s going to be a fight to claim it. It’s awful. I used my battery chainsaw for 5 hours and was whipped. Some of it is going to require a big...
I didn’t get the burn piles lit yesterday.
I found Tiny’s triplet ram yesterday in a crumpled heap, bloated and cold as an ice cube. I thought he was dead. I picked him up, he moved, alive. I brought him in the house and warmed him up with a hair dryer in my laundry basket. I gave him...
