yeah but one of these you do not have to worry about the nobs that attach the fencing with and throw you off mid swing...

I hate the post pounders...they just wreck my neck and shoulders, even more so than just using the sledge hammer. Don't know why that is but they just don't fit my hand, it seems. I'll take that four pound sledge any ol' day over the post pounder.

Post pounder any day! I In our stony soil you need all the help you can get to drive a post in straight. I know If I used a sledge to drive a post I would be walking around with my left arm in a sling.
I think it's easier to let the weight of the pounder do the work, the hardest part is getting it on and off those tall posts.
