I have them ordered as well -- pusa asita carrots. I do worry a bit about the "staining anything they touch" aspect, but they sound delicious as well as nutritious.

@ninnymary Yes Baker Creek has them. That's who I ordered mine from.

@thistlebloom Yes you do. While you're at it you need Glass Gem Corn too. Yes it really looks like this I grew it 2 yrs ago. It will blow everybody's mind.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do corn with the kids this year. We grew strawberry popcorn last year, but it very nearly didn't finish in time. Also @Chickie'sMomaInNH generously sent us some Glass Gem seed, but it didn't have a chance to ear out before we got frosted.

I see corn as a way to stack food crops, growing corn above squash, melons and pumpkins while also using it to trellis green beans....not to mention it's my very favorite veg, so it's a must even if it doesn't make as well as it should some years. I'm hoping this year's changes will make a big difference in our ability to grow proper sweet corn in this soil.

Bee, does the three sisters planting -- corn, beans, squash -- work with sweet corn? I've found the sweet corn doesn't get tall enough for the pole beans and isn't as strong of stem. The three sisters originally was for dried corn the Native Americans stored for winter use.

Maybe 60 day corn doesn't get tall enough? I don't do pole beans, just half runner green beans. Regular sweet corn can get anywhere from 6 ft to 10 ft tall and, in good soil, be just as sturdy as field corn.
