This is fun . . . but, I still think I'll delete these photographs once I've got some pictures from this year's gardens . . .

Either that, or I'd better edit the thread's subject line right now so it will say something other than: "2012 Before and After Garden Photos." :D

I don't remember where I got this image. It could have been that time I'd failed to hit pay dirt and showed up lookin' for shenanigans and another grubstake in the big city!

You can see what is beyond the little island in the river. Or, what was beyond it in 1895. It must have been a little distracting to be out there tending the "water works" during the spring run-off. Don't you think?

I better stop this . . .

:p

This is such a fun photo (from another postcard)! I am on this route all the time! Along the river, upstream from Spokane:

The 1st photo's of the 2012 gardening year are now on the 1st post.

It is an inauspicious start since the weather has been so cool, rainy and windy here. I'm afraid that kind of weather will be returning. It would NOT surprise me if there is some white snow on these gardens later this week.

Maybe there will be something green to show you after awhile. I've got a few beds cultivated as of this afternoon!

Cultivation tasks are nearly complete - so, I'm back to show you ;) more pictures of dirt in that First Post!

I'll be out in The Big Veggie Garden in a few minutes to finish that last veggie bed - may even begin digging out the gladiola bed :).

Then, I should be able to make a stop at The Little Veggie Garden to kill a few weeds in the paths. This aughta be a good afternoon for killing weeds - high predicted to be above 80F! I'll believe it when I see it.

Those are "new" pictures, Mary. The last ones showed essentially what things had looked like for the last 6 months.

Now, a lot of work and a lot of hours have gone into that dirt . . . Still the same dirt . . . just loose and fertilized. Oh, and there in the distance in The Big Veggie Garden, over there by that tree & the hay barn -- those are my new beds! And nearest the camera in the same picture - there is sweet pea seed in that soil. I am reluctant to draw your attention to them because until they actually emerge . . . :/

I thought about taking a picture of onion & leek seedlings out there but they are just tiny, wispy things. The snow peas are coming up. Ummm, soon I'll be putting out some snapdragon plants. Right now, they are about the size of my fingers .

When I post pictures of those things in a couple weeks -- don't be afraid to just let your imagination

take wing!!

This is my garden as of a couple days ago. I have the top netting done now, and have planted almost half of it. The rear extension is not visible in these photos. This shows the main part and the new front extension.

Wow, Marshall!

That is quite an enclosure!

Here, I'm thinking a stone fence would be nice . . . too much work but nice.

Looks like there's a BIG ol' pile of rock, at the 'L' corner of your BIG Veggie Garden ... looks so much like the piles I see on the farms and in the ditches around the Newman Lake / State Line area where my Aunt Patty lives! :)
