As some of you know one of my contacts found them and she's popping some in the mail on Monday. She found them yesterday in a local Polish deli, the very first one she tried maybe the force was with her or maybe the luck of the Irish ;), they buy them in bulk and repackage, it's the only dry bean they sell. When they arrive I'll do a germination test to see if they're viable. They say this is a big bean, Gigandes and Salmos Greek Lima (not a Lima) are the biggest white seeded runners I have, we'll see if this one compares in size.

Annette, I can't remember -- was Tricia able to get those Breck's Italian beans for you? If not, I just got some, and I can definitely send you a few. :)

Just finished my grow out list for this year. Saving room for a couple network beans, since it's almost time for the 2018 bean thread to come out. :) A couple of these are new to me...particularly looking forward to Rose, a Kentucky heirloom which has a pretty seed that is half white and airbrushed purplish-black . A few are outcrosses to explore and the rest are some I've planted before, but really needed to increase.

*Sandpiper Outcross
*Shoshone Outcross Mix

Lazy Housewife (Australian)
*Black Neptune Outcross

Contender
Giant Red Tarka
Rote Kepflerbohne
Blue and White of Bernardo
Brinker Carrier

My bean list could chance but tentatively it's...

Nuna (beige seed, bush)
Cherokee Trail of Tears (white seeded pole)
Herrenbohali (pole)
Sarah's Old Fashioned Black (pole)
Emelia's Italian (pole)
Barksdale (wax pole)
Juanita Smith (pole)
Seneca Speckled Egg (pole, wasn't planning to but did a germination test on 2012 seed and they all germinated, couldn't toss them so they are in pots for now)
Ralph (pole)
Breck's Italian (pole)
Piekny Jas (pole runner if I get them in time, if not, Aeron Purple Star)
Condor/Buenos Aires Roja (pole, also a maybe)

Thanks @saritabee , Russ got them for me so I'm set, but thanks for the offer:).

Annette

after looking them up and reading their description they sound like some beans which a friend sent to me some years ago. i grew them that next season, but they were eaten by deer and i had to replant. i don't think i had much from those. i still have a few seeds around here somewhere. they are getting old enough i should refresh them (inside the fenced gardens this time :) ). he called them Jumbo, but they are not bush or half runner so it could be a generic name because they do get big pods.

I think there are a couple of beans around with the name Jumbo..."Jumbo"..."Jumbo Roma" bush types with runners, there's probably more.
I have a few "Jumbo" and another one called "Jembo Polish" (similar looking seed) in the freezer, just samples as I found these for someone else and being the bush types have not grown them myself.
"Breck's Italian" supposedly a pole bean, has similar looking pods and seeds, I'm growing a sample this year, we'll see. I want to compare it to the Italian pole bean I grew in the 60's but lost.
Ahhhh, the fascinating world of beans:).
