@flowerbug, I'm always amazed how much folks with space can plant! This is a really impressive list!

some of those plantings aren't that large, but i wanted to keep track of everything this season because an important part of what i wanted to do was to evaluate how early some of them are in comparison to the control and bulk bean plantings (mostly the Red Ryder, Yellow Eye and Top Notch). i also wanted to segregate some plantings from others so that when harvesting i wouldn't have to figure out which plant was which, i can just pick whatever from that patch and then later when shelling and sorting that box top i'd know what was what because they would all be different. and then if anything out of the ordinary showed up i'd also know it was an out-cross...

with only the one mystery bean this year it should be a lot easier. :)

- Spotted Yellow Eye (semi, dry) (P) (SMR-2017-SYE)
- Steel Purple (early?) (P) (SMR-2017-SP)
- Sunset (early?) (P) (SMR-2017-S)

those are my made up names for now, my initials and year and then abbreviated code for them. so i can keep track later of what happens. the question marks are reminders for me to keep track/evaluate how early they finish or their growth habit because they are an out-cross i'd like to know how to group them in the future. i may have a mess on my hands with some of them growing ever-which way... :) we'll see... hahaha...

if any of them are worth continuing after i get enough to evaluate the flavor for fresh, shelling or dry then i'll have to either stick with the name or figure out a new one. so far, i like Sunset and Steel Purple for names so will likely stick with those...

All of these except perhaps Steel Purple i posted in the 2017 bean thread and/or should be on my bean page, but they may have different names there.

http://www.anthive.com/project/beans/

ok, looking at that page i can put the links to those pictures below...

Steel Purple are beautiful color of purple with an almost gun metal black tint on them, i hope they continue this way. don't know how stable they might be.

no picture of this SP yet. some of the below pictures really don't do the beans justice either, the coloring/tints are so nice and the camera and/or me doesn't capture them as well as seeing them directly.

Sunset are the ones that are orange color with red hints and very prolific. i think they are an out-cross from a Pink Tip and Red Ryder as i've grown those many times now in proximity:

Olive Eye i only had four beans total for that one and planted two seeds this year and hope they produce. if not will try again next year with last two seeds and hope they come out. it is a very light olive color, but held steady and didn't darken or fade with age. so we'll see what happens.

Half Light and Half Dark were selections of this pattern, the dark were almost black/purple and the light had more red in them:

Half Brown were larger and i hope they produce as they are a pretty bean. likely an out-cross between Painted Pony and one of my other beans as the shape is like the other bean but the color and pattern are from the Painted Pony. Upper left in this picture. Spotted Brown were the ones in the center:

the Olive colored ones are solid color like a green olive in color. the Large Olive have an interesting tint to them that is almost bluish. Large Olive is in this pic (upper left), don't think i have a good pic of Olive yet:

Spotted Yellow Eye are mostly like:

@flowerbug Your images are not showing up.

[edit, oh perhaps you're mistaking the first link as a picture link and it's just a link to the page?]

did you try reloading your page? i usually clear my browser cache every time i exit the browser so these pictures were linked from my website and that was brought up a few minutes ago to link the pictures from... all showing correctly here...

i cannot currently close my browser though as i'm halfway through two books and don't want to go through the process of checking them out and downloading them again.
