Cassoulet (Tarbais) - a disappointment; not nearly as nice as what we grew ourselves.
Oh dear. If the other seeds (older ones) don't grow, I may need to find another source for them. I am hoping to grow some from the Rancho Gordo ones. Let us hope it was just where they were grown and not a bad strain of them.

@Ridgerunner sent me the Tartan C, or Tartan Dark seeds, so I've got that to play with this year. Planning on growing each plant far enough apart to know which plant produces which seed, in case there is more segregation of the genes. :fl Which I am hoping for!

There is a fellow on SSE that was given some French seed by a friend, I think in 2019. They came in a Cooperative du Haricot Tarbais box. His seed is the most beautiful that I've seen! He even grows a large number of plants for diversity and records it on the seed packet (208 for Tarbais). Top quality seeds.

I think the Rancho Gordo Tarbais was in poor shape from being allowed to sprawl on the ground. I believe their strain was directly from France too.

Welcome! I'm new here and trying not to annoy everyone with questions. I've read last year thread and am 1/3 of the way through 2020s thread.
You'll find me in there somewhere. There's a lot of good info in those threads! I have trouble thinking about growing beans when it's -30F outside and dark whenever I'm actually home, but I have been canning a lot of last year's beans! It adds some moisture to the house air, and makes them a lot more convenient.

And here I was so not dealing well with 5 days of night temps in the 20s and day temps in the 30s. Still, for this part of Oregon, it happens rarely. Now we should be back to night time temps in the 30s and day temps in the 40s or 50s. Of course, it is raining right now.
