Some outdoor pics. The last bean pod photos of the year.

Youdou finally drying down. Seeds are an interesting color when fresh, the seeds I received must have been older. Big chubby pods like this are more at risk for rot, but this one has been doing alright so far. I've only lost a handful. Weirdest bean yet.

Last of the Kitoba pods drying down. One of my favorite pole beans this year. Pods are moisture resistant, and the plants produce a huge volume of pods. The lavender purple seeds are all beautifully formed as well.

Monaco Mussu Niriu, or something close to that name. Sheesh, this is a longer season bean! I hope it makes it. The lady who sent it to me says it has a uniquely high protein content.

And while some of the bean vines are totally kaput, this one - Sastre at 10 feet - is still full of lush green leaves and not stopping anytime soon. I'll have to wait to see what happens with this one.

Lavender Swirl drying down sideways. Vines are still in perfect condition too.

Stephano D'Avento Borlotti. All pods turned to pink as they dried down. Top of the pole collapsed from the weight of the full pods. Great producer.

Witzenhausen pods. So many of this years pods are turning pink at this stage.

Broughton Astley Polish pods basking in the late summer sun.

Another super vigorous one, about 12 feet tall - Facciosa. Not showing any signs of slowing down or yellowing. I'm praying for a late frost this year so these late ones can give me at least enough seeds to try again.

It seems that some Catalan beans are too late for our climate. Only now is my Floreta fully forming pods. It's hard, I won't give up, I'll think of something to collect nice seeds in the future.

i sure picked a lot of the Adzukis the past few days and now they are mostly sorted into the bags with the Purple Doves.

there were a few isolated Adzuki plants along the edge of one bean garden i did as an experiment. it turns out that groundhogs love 'em and so of the few hundred sprouts i had i may get a few pods total. the rest of them were interplanted in various gardens and that interplanting gave them a chance. not a super high productivity from them, but a little extra in most rows where they were interplanted. i was curious to see if they played any role in white rot issues, but i'm not seeing too much of that.

harvested some Venda pods, those are always one of the more difficult beans to shell out once they are fully dried - a good winter project... :)

Kind of reminds me of Coco de Belle Ile which doesn't produce many good beans for me. Though I think your bean has a more expanded eye patch.

Another half pink bean I grew this year. Post 1,004

Pink Trout
Now that is the way Pink Trout was the very first time I saw them about 40 years ago. When grown here there is a lot less white and much more pink with less pink spots.

Floreta might be one to grow indoors or give it a 2 month head start indoors before planting out. Are Sastre and Facciosa Catalan sourced beans?

If you like pink beans, you might be interested in these. It's true that it's only half pink, but half is better than nothing :) I didn't have much seed before, but that's changed now.

I'm looking into my crystal ball and hoping for a vision of a bean trade in our future...🔮
