today's garden club meeting hit a high note for me when one of the other regulars and i could talk about them growing beans for the county fair. i have no idea what that involves or if it will ever get as far as my own gardens, but of course i did ask about "other beans" than the ones they were talking about. Navy beans and Black beans are fine, but as y'all know there is a big big number of other beans out there to enjoy... so i said i would be happy to provide other beans for them to try out and submit if there was any interest... ... we'll see how this goes...

A very common form of payment in Canada is email transfer - this is 100% secure, and guranteed by our banks even though the banks have nothing to do with our email accounts outside of a link up. The financial exchange occurs entirely within the email context, and totally safe and secure.

Yes, the 's' is a major change. It must be paid for on a monthly basis. No monthly payment, no 's'. It may once have been part and parcel of a web design, but such is no longer the case.

Since I was communicating with the USDA yesterday and today by email. I posed the question about a package that was posted before the Green & Yellow shipping labels expiration date but the package arrives at the examining station after the expiration date. Below is what I was told.

If a shipment arrives at a port of entry on a recently-expired permit, it would be at the port’s discretion whether to release or require an updated permit. We do not recommend shipping on a permit that is close to expiration.

Anyone outside the U.S. who has gotten a Green & Yellow label from me since about the middle of December with the account number 537-23-347-34128 instead of 537-23-347-34128A1 needs to receive the new Green & Yellow label. I will email them and you can print the label out in color. Printed in color is required by the USDA.

i so badly want a green and yellow marker right now so i can write "A" in Green and "1" in Yellow... just because i am such a rebel... (i do not have any labels at all and that is ok... just this kind of thing really rubs me rather raw ...)

I've made my way through the bush beans, the semi runners and now I'm up to the L's in the poles on the website giving credit to my seed donors. If I spelled someone's name wrong let me know! I think I got things mostly right though. The reptitive typing can make for errors. Sorry guys it's taken me so long to get to it, this has been a crazy amount of work! By Sunday I should have it done. I can't believe how many beans I've gotten from some of you guys!

Yes if there was problem with a shipment they have usually called me on the phone or emailed me. That is why I can not understand this long silence. They could ask if there is a new updated account that would cover a shipment.

I had a network grower in The Netherlands this past summer and they got their shipment off about the third week of November. The shipment was returned and I can't remember what they said was the reason. I just recently emailed them my newest Green & Yellow Label. So they are going to send their 2023 package once again.

I am the happiest bean growing gal in the Nickel City right now! I've been going through my network and bonus bean box (belated Christmas indeed!) and woweee these are some fantastic bean specimens.

The Blue Spitball, which I knew would be very cool is SO AWESOME! I mean it is even better than I envisioned. Dule is SUCH a pretty color, so different and unique. Kilham Goose and Goose are so BIG! Brown Eyed Goose is really, really neat. Another very unique bean variety. Olga's Yugoslavian is just gorgeous, such a lovely shade of pink. I'm not sure of the age of this sample, but it has to be one of the loveliest pink beans I've ever seen, if it's older it's really a miracle. Usually older pink beans get muddy or even light red looking (like Junin does) but these are such a clear true pink.

Blaugraue LOVE it! For a blue bean seedcoat it shares little with Sacre Bleu or Meerbarbe! This blue bean is very special & easy to tell apart from the other blues with it's size and shape and shade, amazing! Santa Maria Pinquito - I thought this bean might be the same bean as Bolita (which I have), being little and pink, but nope these are totally different. I'm SUPER happy that this is a whole different bean! VERY curious to try these ones! And Petit Gris & Buxton Buckshot - what sweet, teeny little beans! I LOVE the teeny beans! Oh my gosh, these are all going to be SO FUN!!!!!!!

I googled it and........... only 98 Days 7 Hours 59 Minutes 56 Seconds until planting time!

I’m excited too, @heirloomgal - I got my package from Guy Dirix today. Sixteen new varieties I chose, plus he threw in 5 more! Now to get them all added to my spreadsheet and decide which beans to grow this year. Such lovely beans!
