We were in an Aldi's once. DW had a hard time figuring out what to purchase as much of the savings is in large quantities. I went around looking at the labels and, quite frankly, we'll never go back. We may be obsessive about this one thing . . . DO NOT BUY ANYTHING LABELED "MADE IN CHINA" OR "PRODUCT OF CHINA". I wish every American would adopt this mindset. Walmart, Tractor Supply and Harbor Freight Tools are major importers of Chinese garbage too. Our entire family studies every label and always return items to the shelf that are Chinese.
We try not to buy made in China items but it's hard. Quality is not there and I'm always leary of foods from there.

I used to work at Lufkin Industries, building oil field pumping equipment. It was a busy place 36 years ago. Slowly it dwindled down over the years. Finally General Electric bought it in order to seize a patent on an invention that they wanted, and GE promptly closed down Lufkin Industries. Today it is slowly rusting away.

This is the sad story of so many companies that once provided employment for hundreds, if not thousands, in their town. Gone.

I worked in furniture stores before opening our own and watched as the same thing happened. Small Mom and Pop furniture manufacturers were the first to fall. Larger companies moved their production to China or Indonesia to survive. People still blindly bought their old familiar name brands not knowing that the companies had left the country.

If it is a recliner you want, buy a Lazy Boy. They are still made right here in the good ol' USA.

I have 2 home depots within 10 miles of me, 4 within 20 miles. In town is a mom and pop hardware store, I once asked how they stayed in business, wife told only because the building was paid for. There prices are higher but I always go there first, I like being greeted by name when I walk in the door.

On recliners, we had 2 lazyboys-junk.... so we went to BERNE, IN where furniture is made locally. Nothing, I mean nothing was comfortable. So we bought another lazyboy-made in Michigan.

Food items should never be bought from 3rd world countries as they have NO restrictions on chems.

Buying American is more expensive but IF NO ONE buys American, none of us have a job. In theory, we should all be OK as we just circulate money amongst ourselves.
