My god, $800 for teeth cleaning? I have never had to pay that in fact the only time one of our cats has had her teeth cleaned was during her annual checkup, the vet used her fingernail. The kitty we have now is 8 and has never had her teeth cleaned, I spray her mouth with a product called PetzLife (oral care spray), removes plaque and tartar, kills bacteria and freshens breath.
We've been lucky I guess, it's only been once a year to the vet for annual checkup and shots and some Advantage to take care of a flea problem if it arises which hasn't, she's a house kitty. Sometimes we look after one of our kids dogs while they're away so give her a dose just to be on the safe side, The annual vet visit costs me around $200 which I don't take out of her little stash, that's kept in case something more serious arises.

Annette, I suspect Nyboy was answering Cat's (catjac1975) prior post and not discussing the cost of cleaning cat teeth. I don't pay anywhere near $500 to get my own teeth cleaned. I sure won't be paying it for yearly pet teeth cleaning!

I figured that if I fed my dog the proper foods, her teeth would be kept clean the natural way. I do have a doggie tooth brush and paste for a (usually) once a week cleaning.

wow! last time i remember having my older cat's teeth cleaned i think it cost around $300 because they had to remove a couple. Lizzie was always having tooth issues though & you could smell it on her breath when a tooth was an issue. with my 2 cats i have now i'm surprised they haven't tried conning me into a teeth cleaning for either one yet.

when i got my girl kitty i found a low cost mobile spay/neuter program. it cost me about $75 to get her done. last year i was tired of spending $250-$300 to take both cats for their annual checkup at their usual vet. so i found we have a mobile vet that was doing wellness & vaccine clinics at a local pet store. cost me about $130 to get both cats done!

My two dogs were $150ish combined for their boosters and wellness check. Larka at 90 lbs. was about $150 to spay, and I think Wren was around $70. This is the regular vet in my little town. If you look around you can find low cost options. Years ago I got my 5 (!) kittens spayed and neutered for $25 apiece. But it was an hour drive one way, so dropping off and picking up was just about an all day deal.

Lucky, i can't remember if you've said in the past if you have an animal control officer in your area of if this stuff just isn't enforceable.
