Electric fence may work in your area, burt in our neck of the woods ... the deer just jump over it and enjoy a taste treat from the other side of the fence !
:drool

How high do you place your electric wire on those fences? That's an important aspect of the success of the hot wire. I hesitate to believe that deer change their behavior from one region to another and that what will keep deer out of a garden in this area just won't do it in another state. ;)

Same thing here. They leap over to be with cattle/horses and leap back out to go on their merry way. Unless you want to build a 8' fence with a deterrent at top (deer breeders use barbed wire at top) they seem to be related to superman in that they can leap tall buildings with a single bound.

Got 7 foot deer netting put up around one of the raised beds. Nephew was helping, loud crashing noises started coming out of woods, I thought what balls deer have, not even waiting for us to leave. Next thing I know nephew is running toward house yelling bear. He swears he saw a black bear. While there are black bear around they are very very rare.I think he saw a muskrat LOL.

Exactly. Too high. Knee high, single strand and it will yield success. Too high and too visible and they just leap over it.

That's the first mistake people seem to make, thinking they can build a fence high enough that deer can't leap over it. They think that single strand, set that low just could never do the trick if a higher fence doesn't keep them out, but the low fence is the ticket.

Just gotta be smarter than the deer, is all. ;)

Any possibility of seeing footprints to confirm it?

@Nyboy, I live in fear of a bear finding my blueberry patch. They have been reported less than 50 to the North and even closer to the South. DH says they are moving in for a meal. Perhaps Yogi heard rumors of blueberry bushes going in a raised bed nearby and wanted to check for himself. . . .

. . . or heard about a huge bumble bee and imagined an awesome honey tree.
