My grandfather was born in 1878, my grandmother 1885 on my dad's side and mother's side 1888 and 1898. I really did not hear of babies dying in my family. My mother's sister caught small pox at 3 months of age and lived. I also never heard my parents mention the Spanish flu. My dad would have been 8 and my mother 3. She remembers playing outside and looking up and he was waving to her from a window. Quite a memory at 3. He died that year and his mother caught tuberculosis from him and she died 12 years later.
