Artichokes in Massachusetts

Never had artichokes. They do look good though. I had garden stir-fry smothering a small steak with a side of Finn Apple potatoes. While I'd have willingly traded the steak for some of your corn, I enjoyed my dinner as well.

Red , If that steak came from a corn fed beef in a feed lot for 120 days... there is NO way on this earth that I would give up that steak for an ear of corn . :drool :drool :drool Now if it was a tough grass fed one , now that is another story. :hu

Dec, 23, 2015 and my artichokes are still lush. The unusually warm season is sure to end soon. Hey you artichoke experts! These are zone 6 plants, which I am. Have you have any luck overwintering them? I know they grow like an obnoxious weed in warmer climates.

i'm curious how well they would over winter too. i've thought about growing them & have tried starting them from seeds but with mixed results.

Wouldn't a rose cone raise the temps to a possible zone 7? Of course, you need to wait until the ground is frozen to put on the cones. The light does get through the cones so moderating the temps and keeping it from wind dessication is about all the cones will do.
