Nyboy, bought my grandson, Maverick, a talking one for Christmas. I'm not sure exactly what all it keeps track of besides the steps, but there is more. Oh, yes, and it has a "panic alarm". He so desperately wanted to give that a try. Mom vetoed that idea although I suspect he will test it in the gully some day after school.

if you have a smartphone i think there's an app for that....i mean a pedometer like app that is. i know there are a lot of fitness apps out there. my dh has been told for the years following his stroke to get more walking done to get the weight down. at the last dr appt he was told since he isn't all that active to lower his carb intake for meals (bad/procesed carbs especially).

Hey, I'm on your cleaning ladies side, even though I've never prospered on wash day.
DH used to leave the occasional bill in his pocket and I claimed it as laundry tax, but it was never enough to have much fun with. All the other stuff the boys left was not of much interest to me. Marbles, tiny squirt guns, unrecognizable goo (worms or bugs?). I have rescued a cell phone here and there, but always give it back...
