Pie crust Fáil. I use half butter and half hog lard. I raised the pig, rendered the fat and canned snowy white lard. Makes fantastic pie crust. Sarah’s mom is a vegetarian, so I found a recipe that used all butter. Had to pre bake the pie crust. I checked after a few minutes and the edges folded over and slid down to the bottom of the pie pan. I pulled them out, tried to mash the sides back up, sorta kinda half way maybe, maybe not. Oh well. I kept taking the pie crusts out, vainly rearranging the sides. What the heck.

I made the pies. They didn’t look like I intended but they tasted good.

I could’ve used the hog lard. Sarah’s mom had a dental thing and couldn’t come. Oh well, those pies were good anyway , just not the crust. I made BBQ sandwiches for supper on Friday night and Sarah’s favorite, impossible buttermilk pie. Using Bisquick, I dump all ingredients in one bowl, beat with mixer, pour in greased pie plate and bake.

At Spot’s 5:00PM feeding, we trooped out to the pen so Lauren, their autistic daughter could bottle feed Spot. She was so excited. Then they all got to hold Spot, hug, squeeze and cuddle him. It was the highlight of the trip for Lauren.

All was well in the sheep pen. ❤️

Saturday it was raining, cold at 40F and I lit the propane heater when I got up to make coffee.

Going out to feed Spot the bottle lamb Saturday morning, Sugar had twin lambs! After Lauren fed Spot she got to hold a newborn, just hours old. She couldn’t stop talking about the lambs.

Ridgetop from BYH and her husband came in Friday night also. We cooked lots of good food, visited a lot and checked on lambs. Saturday evening right before dark, Aerial had twin lambs! Aerial is the only registered daughter I got out of old Ringo, she was born after he died. So her lambs are special to me. She had a white ewe with freckles on her nose and a flashy ram, red with white back legs and a white spot on his head.

I kept Granny and her twins penned up so guests could bottle feed Spot. They had so much fun and threatened to smuggle him home. So this morning I opened the gate to that pen and let Granny out. Lambs of course were bewildered and didn’t follow her. I finished up chores so Spot wouldn’t yell for me, and came inside. The lambs bounced and ran, getting Granny greatly concerned, but only for the ewe lamb. LOL Spot followed his sister more than he did his mother. Whatever works.

I’ve been checking on them, looking out the window. Granny grazed away from the lambs, bawling for them to come to her, but they are stupid lambs. Freedom! Run! Play! Ignore mom! Granny ran back to them. Slowly she led them to join the flock, grazing in the L part of the front field where now I can’t see them. I’m not worried, Sheba is on the job. In about 40 minutes I’ll go give Spot his bottle.

Thankfully it appears that both Aerial and Sugar can count, "One, Two." Are twins the norm with sheep?

Yes twins are the norm. Granny just has different ideas. But Spot has figured out to follow her even if I’m the one feeding him.
Funny— on the 11:00 feeding, Sheba went out in the field with me. Suddenly Granny charged, smacked into her and rolled Sheba over. Sheba sprang to her feet and snarled her displeasure. Triumphant Granny retreated with the ewe lamb, Spot nervously finished his bottle and went back to his mom. What can I say, Granny is a screwball.

The 2:00 feeding was uneventful, Spot came running when he saw me, took his bottle and went back to his mother.

5:00 feeding coming up.

I fed and watered all the sheep. I fed the group in the front field and closed them up for the night. I sat on a milk crate and fed Spot. He and his sister wandered around baa-baaing for their mom and she was looking for them, baa-baaing. LOL They are settled down for the night.

Goats tails stick up, sheep tails are usually docked, if left long, hang down. Wool sheep are easy to spot, hair sheep get confused with goats.
