I made use of that pile of stemmy chopped down weeds. I pitchforked them into the truck and backed up to the fence.

I pitched them over the fence. Went in the lot and filled the Quonset hut and the hoop shelter. I added a small tarp to help deflect blown in rain. Drove T-posts and zip tied it. I’m such an engineer!

It was a raging storm last night. Power went off at 1:30 AM, was back on when I woke up. Ll ho check how my bed of weeds fared. I have a half dozen ewes due and it will rain the rest of the week.

Merry Christmas y’all!

I have a recliner, so when I sit down, believe me, my feet are up!
I didn’t do much yesterday due to rain. I did 3 loads of laundry, fresh sheets on my bed, cooked roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy for supper, did lots of reading. Went out in the rain to care for sheep and dogs. Today is sunny, tomorrow the rain is back and then a week of sunshine! You know where I’ll be!

Pie crust Fáil. I use half butter and half hog lard. I raised the pig, rendered the fat and canned snowy white lard. Makes fantastic pie crust. Sarah’s mom is a vegetarian, so I found a recipe that used all butter. Had to pre bake the pie crust. I checked after a few minutes and the edges folded over and slid down to the bottom of the pie pan. I pulled them out, tried to mash the sides back up, sorta kinda half way maybe, maybe not. Oh well. I kept taking the pie crusts out, vainly rearranging the sides. What the heck.

I made the pies. They didn’t look like I intended but they tasted good.

I could’ve used the hog lard. Sarah’s mom had a dental thing and couldn’t come. Oh well, those pies were good anyway , just not the crust. I made BBQ sandwiches for supper on Friday night and Sarah’s favorite, impossible buttermilk pie. Using Bisquick, I dump all ingredients in one bowl, beat with mixer, pour in greased pie plate and bake.

At Spot’s 5:00PM feeding, we trooped out to the pen so Lauren, their autistic daughter could bottle feed Spot. She was so excited. Then they all got to hold Spot, hug, squeeze and cuddle him. It was the highlight of the trip for Lauren.

All was well in the sheep pen. ❤️

Saturday it was raining, cold at 40F and I lit the propane heater when I got up to make coffee.
For par baked pie crusts you need to use pie weights or beans. You need to fill it up all the way to the top. Freezing the pie crusts also helps keep it's crimped edge if you made one.
