@digitS' I've had AT&T cell for 19 years. I'm not mad at them, so I'll keep what I got.

@Nyboy I had a second laptop, nearly new, that went stupid on me too. When it got hooked up to that intoxicating internet juice, it went into update mode and overdosed. It became a big blank idiot. So we took TWO laptops to the computer hospital this morning. Wah. Insert crying smiley.

Bayy, that is a terribly upset looking crying smiley you posted. I love it! Perfect, just perfect!

At least your illustrious verbal skills will make up for the lack of smileys. :D

*hugs* Hope they get you fixed up soon. Nothing more frustrating than a dang computer!

I hate Windows Update. I always turn automatic updates off. Windows has a bad habit of trying to update everything at once and doesn't always install updates in an order that is conducive to good computer behavior. This is especially true if the machine hasn't been updated in awhile. It is sometimes possible to boot into safe mode and revert to a previous restore point, then go in and disable automatic updates so you can install them in the proper order. That's probably what the repair shop will try first. If that fails, they should try to save all the data they can from the hard drive then flash a fresh version of Windows onto it.

Several things could be wrong with the unresponsive laptop. A failed bios chip, failed rail on the power supply, bad RAM stick, failed northbridge on the motherboard, failed CPU fan, or a corrupt BIOS are all possibilities. A bad screen or video driver is also possible, in that the machine could be booting, but you wouldn't be able to see it. However, if the speakers are on and functioning, you could eliminate that as a possibility because you would still hear the Windows sound when it boots up. That machine will be a little harder to diagnose. Hopefully it's something simple.

The newer laptop has nothing on it. It's windows 8 and I liked my old windows 7 better. So should be an easy fix. The old laptop? Used and abused. Haha

I did the free upgrade to Windows 10 on the PC. So far, there isn't anything to really complain about.

I am a little concerned that if I pass gas while there at the PC in the south window - i will suddenly be seeing GasX ads on the screen ...

... did I really write that?! On Bay's Random Ramblings thread??
