Baymule's 2016 Garden

I can't wait to watch and see what happens. It looks beautiful! Pain shavings, why so excited about pine shavings???? Tell me! I do not understand and I have pine shavings with rabbit urine and manure. I guess I should have got it on the garden in the fall, but it seems so crazy, all the brown leaves and pine shavings. Isn't it too much brown????

Bay has very sandy soil, so needs the shaviangs to retain moisture or she would be watering the crops maybe 2-3x / day. For my garden, I would cover the area with at least 6 inches of the shavings + horse manure + ammonium sulfate and iron sufate then dig it in 3 to 4 times per year before I would even consider puting in a crop, then do it again and again for at least 3 years and use amonium sulfate , iron sulfate with every layer. Then cover tha garden area with 6-10 inches once per year in the winter. Works great as it breaks down prety fast to a fine rich soil that produces large crops. I also put 6" + of wood shavings with horse manure + ammonium sulfate and iron sulfate around my trees to the drip line ... the trees thrive and produce heavy crops.

Wow! I think I am really under fertilizing my garden the last couple of years. Why the iron sulfate?
 
Iron sulfate greens up the leaves and therefore more photosynthesis then equates to higher yields. Also Iron sulfate is the active ingrediant in moss killer if you have moss issues that you want to address. In th PNW moss killer is also marketed to kill moss on home roofs and sidewalks / driveways. Iron sulfate fertilizer is much cheaper ( like half + ) than buying moss killer from the nursery or big box stores.
 
Well, this Doublewide Diva finally found a use for the garden tub, that big thing in the corner that takes up so much room. It really is a garden tub now.

Very interesting! What a transformation... I predict a very successful garden this year! I think employing pigs is a great idea. Like Cat, the chickens work my garden some- but nothing like that! Nice dirt and bacon...if that isn't a win-win, I don't know what is.
 
Wow so neat Bay ! All the room you got in your new home. Looks like you got a little farm. Yes will be fun to watch things progress for you. Very happy for you !
