Heather, I'll pass on what dh said when I showed him your photos and read your post:
"Wow, nice shots! ..... Well if she wasn't such a sissy she could be swimming and kayaking up here."

I knew you would appreciate that. :D

Awesome shots there, Heather! Really cool birds. Hey, I'm about to move to FL myself! We're getting another round of heavy snow now and the power has been flickering for the past hour. Probably gonna have to fire up the generator again. :tongue

Wow, very amazing shots, @NwMtGardener ! What fun getting to see a lot of species we don't have. Looks like they sit there and pose for you, beautiful photos!

I think I need a mom in Florida. :D ... Have a great trip!

We had a rare visitor on the pond last evening. It was just so neat, watching it soar over the ice and drop down into the few open holes. I hope it hangs around, and has an appetite for squirrel.

We are seeing them more around the area than we used to. I've never caught one fishing on the pond. I'm hoping that's a sign that the food supply in the pond is back up, after the drought several years ago when it almost dried up. It's part of a wetland system, fed by a creek... when the water is low it really affects the pond.
