major that was very well explained. I've read about it several times & just didn't get what they were saying. it makes sense now. I love berries so much. I need to find out what varieties do well here in hot dry Texas. I realize I will need to water, but there must be some better adapted to this climate than others.

Excellent presentation Major! Unfortunately for me, the jury is in. The wild berries on the hillside are still infected with Orange Rust. They looked good early on, but I checked them yesterday evening and saw the truth. Many of the floricanes are turning spindly and the fruit is suffering badly. I expect to see the tell-tale orange patches before long :(

My only option now is to try to kill off the entire patch, burn the canes and seed the hillside with something else. I'll have to research how long OR spores live in the soil.

with all this rain < ok all these down pours> the blackberries have taken a turn into sweet black gold..
driving down the road to the house saw the dw picking berries, which turned out great since had orders to fill, she was very proud of this one.

it never made it into the basket....

here is the harvest for the day 2 gallons...

the youngest row are producing the best berries

rows already picked but loaded

and the primocane runner jungle, look at all those new plants just waiting to be tipped

the whole original row of mothers are not putting out ,they are tired and time to pull and replace them.
