I just heard that there is going to be a swap at BT Hargraves on April 5, from 8-12.
Got birds you want to get rid of? Looking to pickup a few new ones? Bring crates! I'm so excited!!!

I'm off of Rt 40 about 15 minutes West of I-95. Where are you?

I won't be buying anything either. I have the room but no coop/run built yet. I'm hoping to get everything set up to have chickens by the end of the summer.

I have a friend from down in your area. She's the one organizing the swap with the feed store folks. If yall haven't already met, I'll introduce yall. She'd be a wealth of knowledge for you as you start to put together your coop and flock.

Have you been to Backyard Chickens? There is a thread, 'Virginia' under 'Where am I? Where are You?'. Good place to get info about local swaps, folks who can help with coop building or material gathering, etc.

Well, I can guarentee you it won't be a silkie. I'm in the minority, but I really don't like them, they just don't look like chickens to me.
Actually, by then, I should have the 2 Jersey girls in the tractor - and waiting to bring home a bunch from Gilmanor, so 'Nope, nope, nope! Not bringing home any new birds, noway, nohow!"
Now something from the greenhouse.... that' a different story.
