Mentioning Persimmons @Rhodie Ranch; makes me think of that fellow on here a while back who “seemed to know a lot” about all things persimmons? where’d he go?
I sure miss them from back when i was young and would find a lone tree out in the woods somewhere, that was in Southern Indiana.
I was hoping he’d school all of us on they’re cultivation.

Don’t understand how anyone can eat quick or instant oatmeal. IMO tastes like white paste
I used to eat instant oatmeal years back, when I was writing curriculum. I'd put raisins or chopped dry mangoes in the bottom of a large insulated cup, and add the oatmeal (sometimes a scoop of instant milk too). I could get hot water at work, and poured that in shortly after I arrived. By my first break, the oatmeal was REALLY soft, as was the fruit in the bottom. Not as good as home-cooked rolled oats, but it beat vending & was a lot healthier.

I used to eat instant oatmeal as a young person. I'd always get the flavored kind like "brown sugar," "peach," or "apples n cinnamon." They tasted pretty good, but the plain stuff was hard to swallow!

I make the real rolled oats at home in microwave. Takes a total of 2.5 minutes. 1.5 on high while I get ready. Then 44 seconds while I do something else. Then 44 seconds while I get milk, etc and pour my coffee. Maybe over kill but always done and hot.
