Happy New Year! I started the year out sick. I am not sure what I have. The wood stove pipe got kind of clogged up on the roof last week and the house was getting smoky. I have had smoke irritate me before where I got sick like a cold or flu. I am not sure. My nose and throat are fine. I have a slight cough where I feel like fluid in chest a little. I break out in a sweat and then get cold. Had body aches and headache that Tylenol takes care of. My legs would feel weak sometimes. I feel better today, but not well. It is not like I am real sick, just tire and not normal. DD and family seem to be okay, but the baby is sick with a cold and fever. DS has been around me and he is not sick, which makes me think it is from the smoke because that is what happened before. My brother came over and the next day was sneezing and runny nose and said he got sick from me, which I do not believe, but maybe possible, but I do not have a runny nose or sneeze. I am just taking it easy, sipping on coffee and staying warm.

Thanks Bay, decorating the cake with whipping cream is more challenging than I thought, I almost lost my patience while doing it. The decoration took longer time than baking the cake.

However, I later learned that adding ingredients like white chocolate, corn starch, or gelatin can help stabilize it. I will do better (and easier, I think) next time. It's great to have a homemade cake in the fridge, and it will become a product for the cafe in the future, too. :D

Watch it if you are whipping cream. Too long and you will be making butter!!!

sounds like a good plan. there's a lot of stuff going around right now so you could have picked it up and perhaps you're not showing some symptoms but still have it... Mom was under the weather for a while and i didn't really feel as bad as she did, just a bit of crud in the throat and that was about it.

Already 1/2way through the week but doesn't seem possible seeing how it just started, right?
So glad FH is staying out in the car while waiting on AAA (or a co-worker to pick him up) to come fix a tire just so I don't have to put up with his miserable butt this early and he's only miserable grouchy seeing how he has a flat tire on the car so it's making him late for work.

Good Morning. We were out and about yesterday along with way too many people. Depleted necessities between Christmas and New Years, I'm guessing. The weather was sprinkley and a little windy and cold, seemed like a "good" time to catch something unhealthy. @Branching Out , I hope you are feeling better and @Gardening with Rabbits and family!

The very special oolong and hot oatmeal with raisins, honey and butter - apple and persimmon on the side - for breakfast. Thinking about healthy, vitamin rich foods, re the recent Seed Saver posts. Weren't we told in the teevee ads that the C is in the orange juice ;)? Maybe it is ... :)
